Our First Lady, Thandiwe Banda's Nsobe Fundaiser

October 21st, 2010

On the 16th October 2010 Zambia’s First Lady, Thandiwe Banda held a Fundraising Dinner Dance at Nsobe to raise funds for the CopperKing Development Trust’s Social Development Programme. The event was well attended by the Ndola business community, and a net profit of K135 000 000 was raised. These funds will go into a revolving loan-capital account which will help small scale farmers kickstart their commercial enterprises and will be guided by the CopperKing Development Trust. To find more out about the CopperKing Development Trust and its modelled agricultural schemes please go to the CopperKing Page on our website.

It was a fundraiser with a difference, an evening of good food and great entertainment provided by Ben Blazer and his band “The CopperKing Derivatives”, Shyman Shaizo and Peterson….”Fire-burning” Zagaze. Great pledges were made with special thanks to Ílona Thompson of Olympic Milling for her pledge of K50 000 000 (WOW!) and Zambezi Portland Cement for K10 000 000. Bravery was put to the test with the invited guests bidding to either see our First Lady hold a massive African Rock Python or to save her from the ordeal, the bids swung against her and Mrs Banda, without batting an eyelid, strolled onto the stage and draped the beast around her neck!  Robby DÁlberto from Quicksave Ltd kindly paid K10 000 000 for his friend to energetically open the dance floor with The First Lady.

Thank you, Mrs Banda, for endorsing the CopperKing Development Trust’s Social Developement Programme and for the personal time and effort you put into the Nsobe Fundraiser. Many thanks too to the support and blessings from the Ndola Business Community who has enabled this dream of People Empowerment and Social Upliftment to get off the ground.
